On April 27, 2026, a delegation from The Clinical Optic and Refraction Society, under the Royal College of Ophthalmologists of Thailand visited the manufacturing facility of HOYA Corporation in Lamphun, a key global hub for intraocular lenses (IOLs) and contact lenses. The visit highlighted precision-driven biomedical engineering, from biocompatible material selection to micron-level lens finishing—critical factors that directly impact postoperative visual outcomes in cataract surgery.
The program also included a visit to Somsanguan Eye Clinic (CNX Optic), led by Emeritus Professor Somsanguan Ausayakhun. MD, a cornea and refractive surgery specialist. The exchange provided valuable updates on clinical practices, emerging technologies, and patient-centered care approaches.
This experience underscored that vision care is not merely a clinical outcome, but the result of seamless collaboration between science, technology, and medical expertise—working together to enhance quality of life.
