The People Eye Care Foundation (PECF) continues its charitable cataract surgery programs to restore vision for underprivileged communities in remote areas of Thailand and Myanmar, including Chaiyaphum, Surin, Satun, and Mandalay, Republic of the Union of Myanmar.
These programs are organized annually, with mobile medical outreach missions conducted every month. Each mission is supported by a team of approximately three volunteer ophthalmologists who provide cataract surgery to patients in need. Dr. Bunyaporn Chandra-Chamnong has been a dedicated member of the volunteer ophthalmology team, participating in the program continuously for many years.
In each province, the medical team is able to perform cataract surgery on up to 100 eyes, completely free of charge. These efforts help restore vision and improve the quality of life for individuals who have limited access to medical care.
Over the past 36 years, the People Eye Care Foundation has helped restore sight to more than 40,000 eyes, reflecting its long-standing commitment to “creating merit by restoring vision” and reducing inequality in access to ophthalmic care in a sustainable way.
