On November 7,2025 Bunyaporn Chandra-Chamnong, MD (Dr. Mo) was invited to join the amplifEYE 2025 Ophthalmic Surgery Meeting, which focuses on the latest innovations in eye-surgery technology and surgical instruments. This year, the event is being held at the Pan Pacific Orchard, Singapore.
One of next year’s major highlights is the Unity VCS, a combined 2-in-1 phacoemulsification and vitreoretinal surgery system. It provides faster cataract lens emulsification using lower energy levels, offering improved safety through advanced fluidics and a thermal sensor that continuously monitors intraocular pressure and temperature during surgery.
For retinal surgery, the system enhances both speed and safety with a new vitrector probe capable of 30,000 cuts per minute, as well as smaller incision sizes of 25-gauge and 27-gauge. It also features a multi-spot laser probe that allows surgeons to deliver 1, 2, or 4 laser spots at once, significantly reducing the time required for intraoperative laser application.
